native american owned & family operated coffee company
preserving the tradition of great basin coffee, one sip at a time.

not your regular cup of coffee
From the very moment one of our ancestors took their first sips from a cup of the dark stuff, on the pristine shores of Pyramid Lake (Paiute name), Star Village was born.
We’d like to imagine that our coffee inspiration exists in a creative space of compromise, where the desert alpine converges with the high sierra, to symbolize a historical resilience that pays homage to that which came before us. In with the old, out comes the new, but always in use. This turn of the phrase is the concept behind our custom-built drinks, and we are proud to share our story with you.
“Grows Wild” ingredients
Showcasing forgotten, local ingredients as we pay homage to our ancestors who so expertly crafted coffee before us.
The “grows wild” ingredients we will be previewing on our menu are Great Basin staples— essential to our way of life, call them survival foods, especially the coffee. Chokecherries, sage, and pine nuts are endemic to the Great Basin, and we will be making your speciality drinks with some of those regional ingredients.
We chose to highlight certain flavor components because of their cultural and gastronomical significance. These indigenous ingredients represent a piece of our culinary culture, and are a part of a foodway system that sustain the people (Numu). Our ancestral teachings remind us about the importance of treating the sharing of food and drink, as a time-honored ceremony. It’s with this intent that we bring you our coffee creations. Dare to enjoy!

We descend from great upheaval and constant influx. Struggle is in our blood. But so is joy, and so is humor. We grew up in northern Nevada, amongst dreamers and resistors, in times of change and resettlement. We grew up running amok in the hills of Hungry Valley, at an elevation of 4,380 feet, or higher. Star Village is the culmination of peak and valley— it’s the recognition that we look to the stars for community and bearing. Sometimes our individual journeys only make sense when we bring our renewed messages, and unlocked gifts back to the people (Numu).
